Arguments vs. Undefined Check

JavaScript performance comparison

Revision 4 of this test case created by Ben Newman

Info

Checks to see if it is worthwhile avoiding arguments if we would have to do a safety check for an undefined argument anyway.

Preparation code

<script>
Benchmark.prototype.setup = function() {
    function testMethod(a, b, c) {
      // Blah...
    }

    function variadicBind(method) {
      var context = this;
      return function() {
        return method.apply(context, arguments);
      };
    }

    function nativeBind(method) {
      return method.bind(context);
    }

    var variadicBound = variadicBind(testMethod);
    var nativeBind = restrictBind(nativeBind);
};
</script>
